Look - What to Wear with a "Blurple" Dress

"Blurple" is one my new favorite words. Don't worry, I didn't make it up. I'm borrowing it from some of the lovely people on the MUA Nail Boards. I don't think they made it up either. But it's fun. I wore this look with a dress to a wedding last weekend. I had a heck of a time coming up with it because I just didn't know how to handle the gorgeous color of the dress (more on that in a later post). Finally I settled on NOT going overboard, but using something that still had a bit of a blue tint to to it. So I pulled out one of my pigments I never use and had some fun.

The Breakdown

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • MAC Phloof! Eye Shadow - inner corner, highlight for brow. The more I use this shadow, the more I love it.
  • MAC Softwash Grey Pigment (LE) - All over lid. I rarely reach for this one, but it can be pretty. I'm still not convinced I've mastered it here, however.
  • MAC Moth Brown Eye Shadow (LE) - Outer corner into the crease. MAC PLEASE make this perminant. It saves so many boring looks from becoming failures!
  • MAC Springtime Skipper Eye Shadow (LE) - lower lid as a liner
  • MAC Steelpoint Technikohl - line upper lid
  • MAC Plushlash Mascara in Plush Black
  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC15
  • MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skin Finish (LE)
  • MAC Dainty Mineralize Blush - love this. Great on fair skin.

  • MAC Prep + Prime Lip
  • MAC Dervish Lip Liner
  • MAC Bare Slimshine - if you don't have a good nude lipstick, this is a great one to pick up
  • MAC Money, Honey! Dazzleglass
