Where are the Looks? An explaination...

I suppose I've owed you, my readers, an explanation why I haven't been posting any more looks. Some of you maybe have missed them, others I'm sure don't really care. Well the answer is relatively simple: Allergies.

What's going on?
About a month ago I was diagnosed with GPC, or Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis (at least I think that's what it was called). I was told to discontinue use of my contacts until symptoms improved. Along with that, I chose to discontinue eye makeup as well.

What is GPC?
I'm no doctor but I guess what happens is that sometimes your eyelid can get irritated and small bumps form on the underside of your lid. According to my doctor, when people complain about them they usually complain about them near the upper tear duct - exactly where I'm feeling it. What do they feel like? Well, imagine sand in your eye. That's pretty close. These bumps are rated on a scale of zero to 5 in severity. A month ago I had a 2 rating in my left eye and a 1 rating in my right. I went back to the doctor last week and had a new rating of 1 in my left eye and 0.5 in my right eye.

Prognosis
At this time my doctor does not want to recommend that I discontinue contacts all together, though she suggested I would probably be uncomfortable wearing them for long periods of time or very often until the bumps go down. She said some people are told they can never wear contacts again. This could happen to me in the future.

What can I do?
  • Obviously, not wear my contacts
  • Avoid anything that might irritate my eye
  • Take my antihistamine drops - they sting like crazy and I hate them
  • Resort to steroid drops should they get to bad
  • Look into Lasik
So there you have it. That's why there haven't been any look posts from me, and fewer posts in general. I hope you understand. Hopefully in a couple more weeks I'll be back to normal. Keep your fingers crossed!
