Look - My New Years Eve Look

Happy New Year Everyone!

The look I put together for New Years Eve was inspired by a dress I purchased from Banana Republic:

Normally, I would have returned this dress but my husband insisted I keep it. I think it looks like a funky tent on me but oh well. He liked it. Sometimes you just have to wear things you don't really like if your honey insists, right?

Anyway, I decided to try a look with a bunch of things I wouldn't normally use. That's when things started to go wrong. Learn from me: if you ever need to trim your false lashes, DON'T TRIM THEM WHILE THEY ARE ON YOUR LIDS! You think I would know this, but after wrestling with theses Shu Uemura rhinestone lashes for a half hour I just wanted to take off a tiny bit... ended up snipping my lid. Really bad move on my part. To make matters worse I tried to use brush cleanser to remove the excess Duo glue (what was I thinking)...Utter stupidity. I had to remove my contact lens toss it out, flush my eyes with Thera Tears, put a new contact in, and start over. Needless to say, the lashes ended up in the trash. I won't be trying that any time soon.

  • MAC Vanilla Pigment - All over lid and under the eyes. If you don't own this by now, you're missing out.
  • MAC Swish Eyeshadow - over main lid only.
  • MAC Stars 'n Rockets Eyeshadow - Center of lid.
  • MAC Accent Red Pigment (LE) - Outer third.
  • MAC Tilt Eyeshadow - lower lid.
  • MAC Idol Eyes Eyeshadow - Outer corner, inner corner.
  • MAC Contrast Eyeshadow - outer corner
  • MAC Electricolady Liquidlast Liner - lower lash line
  • MAC Blacktrack Fluidline - Upper Lash Line
  • MAC Dark Soul Pigment - On top of Blacktrack
  • MAC Showstopper Eyeshadow (LE) - on brows

  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid NC15
  • MAC Etiquette Glimmershimmer (LE) - I really should have skipped this and just gone with the Light Flush.
  • MAC Light Flush Mineralize Skinfinish (LE)
  • MAC Skinfinish Natural in Light - as powder

Lips - I really loved the color I got with this combination. It was a little warmer than what it looks like in the picture.
  • MAC Dervish Lip Liner
  • MAC Rocking Chick lipstick (LE)
  • MAC Light Switch Lipglass (LE)
Anyway, the whole outfit, look and all, stayed on for about two hours, at which point I was so worried about my eye I washed everything off and changed into a t-shirt and jeans. I think I'm on the mend, and will put this down with the rest of my beauty New Years resolutions to quit doing stupid things.
