Rocker Eyes! Pile on The Mascara!

This post is inspired by @Jen_Meade who posted a wonderful "Easy Rocker Eye" Tutorial on her blog last week. With a title like that, you know I had to try some version of it. Plus, I love it when other bloggers inspire me to try something new - like putting dark shadows in the inner corner of my eyes (eek!) and using colors like Fyrinnae Japan liberally (yikes!).

I'm almost always looking for another way to do a rocker eye that I actually CAN do and that actually looks good. This one, for me, is an "almost but not quite a success" eye. I always have waterline issues. Jen's eye is far better and you really should mosey on over to her site to check it out. But in the mean time, here's what I came up with:

Note: I used the washed out images because I thought they were better.

Breakdown - I did not have the same products as Jen so I used approximations.

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • MAC Paint Pot in Moss Scape - All over lid. I don't think this was nearly as dark as the one Jen used.
  • Fyrinnae Eye Shadow in Japan - Used on inner and outer corners. I LOVE this color in the pot but never want to use it because it's kind of scary teal blue that's really dark. Can you use Pixy Epoxy over a Paint Pot? If you can, I probably should have.
  • MAC Pigment in Coco - In crease and smudged upward more than I normally would. Tiny bit under eye.
  • MAC Eye Shadow in Next to Nothing - Brow highlight, using a lot less than normal
  • MAC Kohl Power in Feline - Lined upper and lower lashes (waterline) as well as I could. I have huge issues with doing this and need practice.
  • MAC Plushlash Mascara in Plushblack

  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC15
  • MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light
  • MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Petticoat - Had to use it. Have you entered my Give Away yet?

  • Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Sex Machine
  • MAC Lipglass in Viva Glam VI LE
Clearly, I'm going to have to try Jen's technique using some other colors. So I'm sure you'll be seeing versions of this in the near future. I want to get this right because I love it!

Give Away Reminder: I am giving away MAC Petticoat, MAC Parrot, and Chanel Kaleidoscope. Entries due by this Thursday, May 13th, at Midnight!
