Polish - Layering CND Jade Sparkle Over Dark Ruby

So if you read All Lacquered Up, you should be familiar with this combo:

I loved this combo when Michelle posted about it. I immediately went ahead and ordered the colors. I kept putting it off because it's more of a fall combo, but in the end I just couldn't help myself. I used two coats of CND  Dark Ruby, and one coat of Jade Sparkle

Color(s)
Dark Ruby by itself is a really deep maroon red. very beautiful in it's own right. Jade Sparkle is a green-gold sparkle-loaded polish with a clear base. Together they come out with something I can only call "metallic reptilian".  I looked at my nails when I was done with this and I thought "Voldemort!!!" So this may be the "Voldemort Combo" for me. I was reminded a little bit of Misa Embroidered Emerald - I think this combo is what I wish Embroidered Emerald could be.

Application
I had troubles with CNDs brush. It loads a lot of polish in it's bristles which is great, but for some reason I just kept messing up. I had a lot more clean up than usual to do. Maybe I was having an off night.

Wear
You'll notice my chip on my index finger - I think that's due more to my nail condition than this combo (on top of Qtica Nail Growth Stimulator and topped with Seche Vite). It feels like it will wear like iron on nails in much better condition than mine.

Bottom Line
Both of these colors are worth owning separately as well as together. And together they are really something! But they may not be everyone's cup of tea as a pair. Think of adding the Emerald Sparkle like adding honey and milk to your tea. Some people like it, some people don't.
