Ling Skincare Diary - Week #1

This is my first "Diary" entry on the Link Skincare At-Home Facial and Daily Regimen Kit. I began the Link Skincare system with the Weekly At-Home Facial last Saturday. I continued this week using the Daily Regimen. The Daily Regiment includes using the Purifying Facial Cleanser, then the Replenishing Hydrator, followed by Moisture Plenish and  lastly the Elastin Collagen Cream. I thought it would take me forever to remember which product to use when, but it was actually easy. Actually, I started making sure I put them away in a certain order so I wouldn't forget. Then it became easy to figure out which tub I needed.

Notes
Every other night I have been mixing a little bit of the Spotlight Papaya Resurface Peel in with my cleanser. This is a directed step which gives a little bit of exfoliation in with the Daily Regimen. I must say that I did this Monday night and Tuesday morning my skin was just GLOWING. You know, that glow from within that you're always trying to achieve but never can. I was so excited.

Tuesday, because I had my softball game and was dirty like you wouldn't believe, I used the Herbal Clay Clarifying Mask after my cleanser in the evening, followed by the rest of the Daily Regimen steps. I also tried using the Oxygen Plasma Potion in place of the Moisture Plenish. I guess this product can be substituted for Moisture Plenish. Jury is still out on which I prefer.

Wednesday after the clay mask I noticed a few zits pop up. I am not sure if the zits are just a symptom if the products are bringing some things to the surface. Badness to be gone soon.  I have always been told that this happens with every new skincare system, so I am just going to assume it's par for the course.

Visit with my Dermatologist
Here's where things get interesting. I had a Dermatologist appointment on Thursday during which I asked him about the Ling philosophy of adding moisture to help with acne. He dismissed it, saying that there is increasing evidence that this does not help acne and that a lot of dermatologists recommend doing the opposite. However, he suggested I continue to use the Ling skincare, adding in my Tazorac cream - that perhaps then the Tazorac wouldn't dry me out quite as much. Basically, his meds and the Ling system might in the end balance out my skin and give me a happy healthy face. He also increased my antibiotic again - he had been trying to decrease it, but obviously that isn't working. I am sure if my skin clears up he'll blame it all on that. Sometimes I wonder if he even actually cares about how I am cleaning my face, and that sort of worries me.

So basically, I am in the middle of a skin philosophy battle. Camp "Ling" says hydration is the key. Camp "Derm" says hydration won't help me. Camp "Styrch" says this: "Do whatever works for your skin." At this point I love how my skin looked on Tuesday morning  so I am going to continue working with this system and see where it gets me.

Other Bits
I should also note that I have been using the Ling Drying  Lotion on my zits. I haven't noticed it doing much. I plan on giving a review of this product soon.

Wrap Up
So one week down - I have noticed my skin feeling more hydrated during the day. I don't know that I feel comfortable with this. It's a little slimy. I sort of wonder if there are some products I can skip during the day and only do at night. Maybe skip Moisture Plenish in the morning and do the Oxygen Plasma Potion. I may try that next week.
