Ling Skincare Diary - Week #2

Correction from Yesterday
First off, let me apologize. I had misread a communication between me and the Ling Skincare representative I am in contact with. Yesterday I stated that the Ling Purifying Facial Cleanser had a shelf life of 2-3 months. I was incorrect. It is actually 2 to 3 years shelf life. So very sorry.

On to the week!
As I sit here Friday morning, I just have to say that my skin looked great getting up out of bed this morning. I still have spots on my face where I am breaking out, but the parts of my skin that are clear just have that wonderful glow-from-within look. That's a very nice feeling - to wake up and see my skin looking healthy and not tired or stressed.

I continued this week with the Weekly At-Home Facial. I am happy to report that without doing a video and this being my second time through it took at lot less time. I didn't mind the hot towel on my face as much because I just laid down on my bed (and nearly fell asleep). Good stuff!

Per Ling Chan's suggestion, I am not using my dermatologist prescription of Tazorac for the duration of this month to get the full benefit of the products Ling Skincare has provided to me. I am a little nervous about this because Tazorac is supposed to be the bees knees when it comes to exfoliation, preventing acne and wrinkles. My derm said he'd be happy if I were on it for life (of course he would - that would mean return visits, the cynic in me says). I will probably reintroduce it once this is over. However, I have decided to take the increased antibiotic prescription as my doctor has recommended because, well, zits!

I have decided that I think the Moisture Plenish IS too rich for my skin during the day and is much better suited for a night routine. I have been using the Oxygen Plasma Potion during the day. The Oxygen Plasma potion is supposed to be great for killing acne bacteria so I am thinking I may try using it for a week without the Moisture Plenish and with the Oxygen Plasma Potion instead.

Pomegranate Detox Mask
I used this  product this week. It is interesting because it too is a clear mask. My husband did not understand when I asked him to let me wash my face before he took his shower (the mask had been on for it's 20 minutes). He got all in a huff about it. I think had my face been covered in mud he would have understood, but the clear mask thing doesn't translate into guy-world. As for if this mask actually detoxed my face - I couldn't tell. I suspect this mask is one of those that works best with long-term use. Either that or maybe I am doing something wrong.

How's my face?
This question is complicated. On one hand, my cystic acne is up a bit and  more clogged pores seem to be rising into zit-like bumps. This could be a "TTOTM" issue (and if you don't know what that is you're probably a male reader without a wife or sisters). Post softball game, the bumps on my forehead increased as well as around my chin. I also used the Detox Mask that night, so who knows: did the mask do it's job, or did my skin succumb to dusty/dirty/sweaty field? Did I need to try a more aggressive approach after such a dirty mess? I have been using the Ling Skincare Drying Lotion sample that I have, but as soon as one zit goes away another appears. I would take detailed pictures but I'm not sure you really want to see that...

On the other hand, my cheek and nose pores have gotten visibly smaller. I was looking at my "Lust Bunnies"  face of the day I took I picture of this week and some past faces of the day from before I started the Ling Skincare routine and I can definitely tell a difference.

Ling Under Makeup
Given how moisturizing these products are I was a little apprehensive about wearing makeup. I haven't really been wearing it at all (except for the Lust Bunnies look). I shouldn't have been that worried. My makeup stayed put very well over the Ling Skincare products. I will try to get more adventurous with makeup again in the coming weeks since I now know that it won't slide off my skin.

Of note:  I am really loving using the Spotlight Papaya Resurface Peel mixed in with the cleanser for exfoliation. It feels really good on my skin. I have been doing that every other night as suggested but I want to do it every night. The combination feels like the exact right amount of rough exfoliating texture, as opposed to being too harsh (or worse, too light).

When I give myself my facial this week I am going to try some more aggressive means of getting steam to activate the Papaya enzymes in order to get a closer-to-spa effect with this peel. Wish me luck! I hope I don't burn myself... Not sure what I'm talking about? Read JoeyBunny's Review of the Ling Skincare Quadra Peel on Pink Sith.
