Ling Skincare - Weekly At-Home Facial Discussion and Video

This weekend my husband had to go into work, leaving me all to myself. It gave me the perfect opportunity to try out my Ling Skincare Weekly At-Home Facial Kit.

Weekly At-Home Facial Kit
From Ling Skincare Website
Overall I actually really did enjoy this facial pampering I gave myself. I had fun with this facial. But in this review I am going to be very critical of the process, not the individual products. You will get comments on the individual products but one facial does not equal perfect skin, therefore I  am not giving my final opinion on each product at this point.

As I mentioned in the previous post the kit I received contains the following products (in order of use):
  • Purifying Facial Cleanser - This is a cream cleanser. It is part of the Daily Routine as well as the Weekly At-Home Facial. Seems to do it's job, but I miss bubbles. I think that's the kid in me who likes bubbles.
  • Elastin Collagen Cream - White cream. Also part of the Daily Routine. Here it is used early on. In the Daily Routine it is used at the end in order to tighten the skin and nourish. It is used early on here to protect the skin from too much heat.
  • Spotlight Papaya Resurface Peel - Gritty white cream that hardens on the face and flakes/peels off when dry. You put a washcloth over your face to give it heat to activate the papaya enzymes, supposedly. It can also be added to the Purifying Facial Cleanser as part of the daily routine in order to give added exfoliation. Double Duty Product!!!
  • Herbal Clay Clarifying Mask  - Red smooth cream. This product was so surprising! It tingles as it goes on, then it really sinks into the pores by the time it dries. If anything in this system looks like it's working, this is it.
  • Replenishing Hydrator  - Clear liquid. Also part of the Daily Regimen. It's supposed to be the a moisturizing toner-like product. I wish it came in a pump in this kit because it gets everywhere. You're only supposed to use about a quarter size drop of the product and apply it with bare hands. That's a bit difficult if your fingers aren't shaped like spoons.
  • Moisture Plenish Solution - A Greasy-feeling clear liquid. Also part of the Daily Regimen. I think it is meant to be used instead of a moisturizer cream but I wondered if it was redundant with the Replenishing Hydrator. Maybe not.
  • Ginseng Therapy Moisture Mask - Clear cream mask. It sinks into the skin as it dries so when you have to "wash it off" you feel like you're just splashing water on your face.
I am not lying when I say every single one of these products is used during the course of the Link Skincare At-Home Facial. It took me around an hour to complete the video and the facial. Because I was creating this video at the same time it probably took longer than it normally would. But it was still a good amount of time.

Fortunately, I've condensed an hour into approximately 13 minutes:

There are a LOT of products here. Ling says they have a 5 step system, but following their steps in their book I counted what I would consider 13 steps to this facial because the Daily Regimen is added on at the end. The Daily Regimen really has only 4 steps to it too. So when Ling says "5 Steps" I think what they really mean is "5 categories of product" or "5 Stages of a Skincare Routine - knowing you will not use every stage every time".

Here's what I think Ling Skincare could do to make this process easier:
  • Color code bottles according to which "Step" in the ling skincare system it belongs.
  • Number clearly the order in which each product is used on the packaging within the At-Home Daily Facial.
It comes down to this for me - If I am doing my skincare routine, I am not wearing my glasses. Make it as easy for me to recognize each bottle as possible. I will be thankful for it! Many other people will too, I imagine. The easier it is, the more likely customers will stick with it.

My Least Favorite Step - The Papaya Resurface Peel. I do NOT want to sit at home by myself with a hot washcloth over my head for 3 minutes, let alone the 10 minutes it says you can leave it on for. Boring... not relaxing. Especially when there are so many more steps to follow.

My Favorite Step - The Herbal Clay Mask. So much fun! I really hope this does actually unclog my pores because I could easily see it becoming part of my weekly routine long term. And you don't have to stick a washcloth on your face so you can have it on while doing something else. Mask multi-tasking!
