Review: Ling Skincare Instant Oxygen Recovery Mask

Image from Ling Skincare Website
I can honestly say I didn't know what to expect from this mask when I was given a sample. It sat in my drawer for several weeks before I finally ventured giving it a try (after numerous emails to my Ling Skincare contact). The booklet I have says it is meant for Aging, Dull and Pigmented skin. Maybe "dull" describes my skin most days, but the other two did not. I was given this product sample for a completely different reason. Apparently there are ingredients in the Instat Oxygen Recovery Mask that are supposed to help kill acne bacteria and that's why the sample was given to me.  But what intrigued me was this Client Testimonial quote in my Big Booklet of Ling Skincare:
"I like to sleep in it twice a week for a glowing complection. (Age 50)"
Age 50 or not, I want a glowing skin! I'm going to sleep in it too! I did exactly that.

What the Website Claims
"Glycoproteins boosts skin's oxygen level to help instant recovery of tired skin. Soy Protein provides anti-oxidants to protect against environmental damage. Hyaluronic Acid and Aloe Extract provide instant hydration."
What My Big Book of Ling Skincare Stuff Says
"While cooling and refreshing the skin, this mask helps improve elasticity, suppleness, and tone. Rich in amino acids and potent active ingredients, it works to stimulate cellular regeneration by improving cellular turnover and restoring the natural balance of nutrients deep within. High levels of Vitamine C strengthen the skin's natural ability to protect itself from environmental damage."
Ingredients
AQUA, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM, C12-20 ACID PEG-8 ESTER, CARBOMER, POTASSIUM CETYL PHOSPHATE, PHENOXYETHANOL, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, MENTHYL LACTATE, PENTADECALACTONE, METHYLPARABEN, DISODIUM EDTA, BUTYLPARABEN, ASCORBYL TETRAISOPALMITATE, ETHYLPARABEN, SODIUM HYALURONATE, ISOBUTYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN, HYDROLYZED SOJA (SOY) PROTEIN, CHLORHEXIDINE DIGLUCONATE, GLYCOPROTEINS, ALOE BARBADENSIS FLOWER EXTRACT.

Texture
This mask is a medium weight white cream. It tends to sink into the skin and fade from sight, though you'll look a little pale while you wear it. It tingles on application.

Scent
It smells exactly like the main floor of MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas. I mean that in a very good way. My MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator also smells like the MGM Grand (the hallway by the bedrooms). I don't mean it in a bad way at all. In fact, for me, it just brings back pleasant memories. But I wouldn't be able to tell you what that smell is.

Cost
A reasonable $65 for 1.7 fl. oz. if we;re talking high end fancy masks here. Still a little much for my tastes when spending money on skincare products. But I happen to think this one is worth it.

My Experience
After much hemming and hawing over whether or not to try this product out and wondering exactly how I should use it I decided to take the 50 year old Client Testimonial's advice and sleep in it. So I put it on after my Moisture Plenish and let it sit there all night. I woke up in the morning and I COULD NOT BELIEVE how luminous my skin looked! Zits and all! Every part of my skin that was relatively unblemished looked fantastic! It's the type of difference only I would notice but I had that unattainable "glow from within" look upon rising that every woman wants her skincare regimen to give her. How do I know that it was THIS product that did it? Well, the nights I didn't use it I woke up to duller looking skin. I totally wish I had more of this to keep using it a couple of times a week because it made a difference for the little time I had it.

I find this mask absolutely addicting. I wish I could use it every other night. I probably shouldn't, but I know if I make the purchase I'll be going through it fast. The good news is that a little bit goes a long way. I did however test this after a night of drinking hard, and you know what? My skin looked fantastic the next day. I didn't even bother with foundation.

The only unfortunate thing is that I don't think it did anything noticeable for my acne. Or maybe I didn't use it long enough. But my skin is still breakout crazy.  But if I ever hope to have good "I don't need foundation" skin I know that this product has to be a part of achieving that.

Bottom Line
This product should be in every party girl's arsenal! It should probably also be in anyone's arsenal who has late nights and gets very little sleep!

When I make my first actual order from Ling Skincare you had better believe that this product will be in my basket. If you think your skin looks dull, give this a try. Seriously. You have no idea how much I wish I had some left over for tonight after the Aerosmith concert I am attending. Really.
