Review: Ling Skincare Replenishing Hydrator

Image from Ling Skincare
Do you ususually associate the words "Replenishing Hydrator" with "toner" in your skincare routine? I don't. But Ling Skincare Replenishing Hydrator is exactly that. It is used after your lotion at the time you would normally use a toner. The focus: to restore balance to your skin just like a toner is supposed to. However, this toner is focused entirely on hydraton, instead of any other purpose. For those of you with dry skin rejoice! This is the toner made for you!

What the Website Claims
"This unique hydrator energizes and restores the natural balance and tone of the skin. The supply of Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium PCA and Glycerin improves moisture retention and the addition of Rose Water soothes irritation. Skin conditions associated with dehydration such as dryness, sensitivity, breakouts and fine lines will be reduced."
Oddly enough, this is one of the only products in the Ling Skincare line where what the website says and what the Big Book of Ling Skincare Stuff agree.

Ingredients
AQUA, GLYCERIN, SODIUM PCA, XANTHAN GUM, IMIDAZOLIDNYL UREA, GLYCOPROTEINS, HYALURONIC ACID, METHYLPARABEN, ROSE WATER CONCENTRATE, METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE, METHYLCHLOROISOTHIAZOLINONE.

Texture
This is a clear liquid, slightly more "substance" to it than water. But you pretty much just put it on your face with your fingertips.

Scent
There is no real scent to this product.

Cost
For 7.0 fl. oz. you will pay $38. The kit I received comes with a 2.0 fl. oz. of this. A little goes a long way so it will last you a long time.

My Experience
Like most toners, I understand why skincare lines include them but I don't always feel like they are doing anything. I do think that this toner is gentle, hydrates your skin, and is a good compliment to the rest of the Ling Skincare line. I also think that personally I need a little more "oomph" to my toner. Or at the very least I need something else every other day to keep my skin under control. In the end I opted to return to my old toner that's a Green Tea and Glycolic Acid toner because at this time hydration just isn't doing it for me. But knowing what this product is like, I may return to it in the winter.

I will give it this however: as part of the Ling At Home Weekly Facial and Daily Regimen Kit the Replenishing Hydrator has a well deserved place. You are supposed to use it after the Spotlight Papaya Resurface Peel and the Herbal Clay Clarifying Mask. Your skin will drink this toner up after those two masks! While all three products are gentle, the combination is good together.

Bottom Line
If dry skin is your primary concern, I would definitely recommend trying this toner. This toner does what it says it will with daily use in my opinion and is a good compliment to any drying mask.

I suggest picking up the Ling At Home Weekly Facial and Daily Regimen Kit before purchasing this toner because the cost is a little pricey for just a toner.

Good News For Those Of You With Sensitive Skin
Ling Skincare also makes a version of this toner for sensitive skin. The Calming Hydrator is the same size but priced at $32, slightly cheaper. I actually sort of wish I had tried this toner instead. I have the feeling I would have liked it a bit more.
