I also made it a point to get out and into Dayton proper a bit more. I enjoyed urban neighborhoods, popup shops, new places to eat, and especially new friends. This is something I want to continue to do next year.
But for now, let's get on with...
2011: What I will remember... (in random order)
Evil Shades Drakon Eye Shadow
I can't tell you how much I love Evil Shades Drakon Eye Shadow! The way it changes color on the lid is just magical. It'll definitely be something I'll continue to go back to going forward. Check out my original post using Drakon.
Cult Nails Let Me Fly Nail Polish
2012 was a year where many polish brands played with sparkle, glitter, and shine in ways that we have always wanted. But one thing became clear to me - one my new favorite brands for subtle shimmer is Cult Nails. Let Me Fly was a great example. See my original post on Let me Fly.
Althea Harper's Cake Face
China Glaze Lorellei's Tiara Nail Polish
China Glaze put out my favorite straight up glitter polishes of the year. I haven't had a chance to review Tinsel Town yet, but it's on my tips as I write this. Had I put it in this blog this year it would have been here in place of Lorellei's Tiara. But seriously, awesome. Check out my original post on the two polishes I received from the Eye Candy collection.
Skin, An Apothecary Body Whip
Dear lord! If you haven't tried this in Ginger Snap, then you haven't lived! Seriously, I can't go to sleep without putting this stuff all over. It's just heavenly. Read my original review of Skin An Apothecary Body Whip here.
Clash Consignment in Downtown Dayton
Such a delightful shopping experience! I usually hate consignment stores with a passion, Mary Katherine has created something that has a personal urban touch to it. It's a little bit punk, and a whole lot of fun. Check out my original post on Clash.
Layering Polish - OPI Crown Me Already! And Lisa of the Beaute Box Layers Shellac
I finally started layering more consistently on my own this year. My favorite polish to layer is OPI Crown Me Already, but I really got started playing with this trend when Lisa of The Beaute Box first started layering experiments on me with Shellac. I know many of you out there have been doing this for years, so you may not consider it new but I do.

Favorite Covet: The Rag & Bone Kobra Sweater
Discovering OCC Lip Tar Purchase for Myself
So great, I ordered 5 more last night. Read my original post on OCC Lip Tars.
Zoya Touch Collection
We saw a resurgence of softer polishes this year as more hard core glitter and texture arrived. When I think of the opposite of all this texture and glitter I think of Zoya's Touch collection. What was even better than the colors of this polish collection, were the semantics of describing it. Do you have any idea how difficult it was to talk about this collection without using the erroneous word "nude"? Check out my post which discusses this collection.
Still, one of the most reached for palettes in my collection. I love Inglot and now realize there is something just as cool as MAC out there. That I got to meet Melissa from the Daily Nail in person when I went to the store was just a bonus. See swatches from my first Inglot palette.
Color Club Snakeskin Polish
Still love it. Still stare at the bottle adoringly.
Most Awesome ANYTHING This Year - Evil Shades Makes PUSH Gloss!
I really enjoyed getting involved with PUSH Dayton on a personal level this year. But holy condoms people! I didn't expect anyone to go as far as Evil Shades did for PUSH! I still can't believe this gorgeous, wearable, covetable gloss was created just because we asked nicely. I really hope Evil Shades will consider doing the same this year when the PUSH Fashion Show comes around. Thank you Andrea! Check it out on my blog.
Speaking of which...
I Modeled For the First Time In My Adult Life!
The other ladies rocked it better, but I loved modeling for the PUSH Runway the Right Way event. Remember my old post?
Other great things I didn't get write about, or didn't get a chance to write about this year:
- I reconnected with an old friend on Facebook - too personal to write about but something far more valuable than anything I could post here.
- I finished and concurred Insanity - I owe you a review and you'll get it. I have video, I have all my notes during the program, and I have before and afters. But seriously, this program burned me out in all areas of my life. I found it to be that tough.
- I became a Turbo Kick instructor.
- I assisted in an Althea Harper Trunk Show - I even styled some outfits and posed myself. Yes, I'll be writing about this in full later. I have to. It was that fun!
- Tracy McElfresh makes awesome capes! - She and I discussed at length creating, wearing, styling the iconic fall cape trend. I never got around to posting it, though you did see her capes up at Clash Consignment.
What are the things you remember from 2012?
