PHYTO for Derek Lam and DVF: Do you prefer the messy or slick bun?

Yay! Fashion Week News!

My hair's way too short right now to try any of this, but far be it for me not to pass it on to some of you reading my blog! I've always adored  people who have the ability to tie back their hair in interesting ways and the following too form PHYTO seem pretty achievable (to varying degrees). Take a look..

PHYTO for Derek Lam

Sunday, February 12, 2012
Location:  330 West Street, NYC
Time: 12pm

Key hair stylist: Orlando Pita for Phyto with beauty.com

Inspiration:   60’s college girl who’s an intellectual but a little eccentric.  2 voluminous and textured looks were created, for day and evening.   The only controlled portion of the hair is in the front, with a side part and a side swept bang.

Products used:
  • Professional Intense Volume Mousse
  • Professional Workable Holding Spray
  • Professional Fiber Paste
All products are available at www.beauty.com

Steps:
  1. Take a dollop of Phyto Professional Intense Volume Mousse and saturate the hair. Blow dry with T3 Featherweight Hair Dryer, then brush it out.
  2. For those who have straighter hair, curl the hair with T3 Whirl for a natural wave.
  3. Back comb and tease hair. Spray each piece with Phyto Professional Workable Holding Spray. Tease again.  Spray.
  4. Spray brush with Phyto Professional Workable Holding Spray and create a loose bee-hive, secure hair at the nape of the neck in low ponytail for evening. For day, the hair is pinned underneath by criss crossing pins.
  5. Use Phyto Professional Fiber Paste to add texture and make hair look piecy (or use Phyto Matte Texturizing Paste for fine hair)
  6. Finish the look (and side swept bangs) by using Phyto Professional Workable Holding Spray.

Location:  Lincoln Center Theatre
Time: 4pm
Key hair stylist: Orlando Pita for Phyto with beauty.com

Inspiration:   Surrealism. The difference between a meeting and a rendezvous which lends to an air of mystery. Diane also plays with the contrast of shiny and matte textures in the collection, which Orlando translated into the hair look by creating extreme shine on portions of the hair by using the products below.

Products used:
  • Phyto Professional Wet Gel
  • Phyto Professional Shine Defining Wax
  • Phyto Phytolisse Finishing Serum
  • Phyto Phytolaque soie hair spray
All products are available at www.beauty.com

Steps:
  1. Slick hair into a deep side part using PHYTO Professional Wet Gel on your hands and wrap hair into a bun (tucking in the ends).
  2. Use PHYTO Phytolisse Finishing Serum and Phyto Professional Shine Defining Wax over the part to smooth out the hair
  3. Finish the look with PHYTO Phytolaque Soie for hold and shine.
Will you be giving either of these looks a try? Let me know!
