Review: Scenting My Home - This Time with Scentsy

Last weekend I was invited to a party at a friends house. Just a girls night. We traded clothing and I brought makeup I was looking to unload. Leslie Bissett else brought Scentsy products.

Being Effie Trinket for a Day Using Sugarpill

Me as Effie Trinket
Wow that's a lot of pink!  Follow Me on Pinterest
Last Friday I took the day off with my girl friends and we went to the theater to see (duh) The Hunger Games. I got into the spirit by trying to take Effie Trinket's "pink" look and change it into something that was a little more accessible for me. So here is my Effie-Inspired Face of the Day!

Quest For My Pretty: Weekly Weight Loss Report

Yesterday's After Turbo Kick Picture!
New Outfit for a New Round
I did not report my weight last week. However, I did take it. It was 169.something. That's why I just took a step back and said "Woah, let's check what I'm doing." Over the past week I've been practicing for teaching a different Turbo Kick Round, and so my workouts have been better. I've been trying to make smarter food choices, though that doesn't always work, so portion control is also something I've been working on again. The problem is that post Turbo Kick teaching I am just SO HUNGRY and mindless. I just want food! Braaaaaaaiiiiiinnnnns.....

Anyway, I think some of last week was also water weight. So here's today:

Weight: 166.6 (-1.6 from last official weight in, -3 from last week)

Good. Let's see if I can keep this trend going.

You won't see a weight next week, but watch my for some (hopefully) fun updates. I will be blogging a bit less until after the Easter Weekend.

Pushup Challenge
I feel off the wagon a bit last week, but every time I remember I do twice as many pushups. So I'm pretty sure I'm braking even. At least it's a habit that forming.

The Beauty Spotlight Team - What's in Cindy' Shower?

Our Beauty Spotlight Team series on 'What's In My Makeup Bag' was so successful that the team has decided to let you delve a little deeper into our inner sanctum. Prime Beauty is starting it off this week by giving you a peek at how she keeps her skin soft and smooth and her tresses shiny with 'What's In My Shower.'  Let's go behind the curtain and she what's lurking in Prime Beauty's shower!

5 Tips: So you LOVE eyeshadow but aren't sure how to apply it...

Last night I had the opportunity to attend a party where us girls were trading clothing. I did bring some clothing, but more importantly I brought... MAKEUP! Yeah, because that's what I have to trade - all that stuff I hoard and am not using. Well one lovely lady started asking me tip because she LOVES eyeshadow but doesn't know how to use it.

Secret: Often, I think the same thing - I too love eyeshadow but don't know how to use it. But I have picked up some tricks. Here are the recommendations I have to this lovely young woman:

My Favs:
MAC 249, MAC 224, MAC 219, Sephora Angled Liner
  1. Remember the basics - A wash shadow (applied all over the lid), a little liner, and mascara can make you look like a million bucks. So start there. It's easy, it's quick (3 minutes tops!) and you'll be fine.
  2. Use a Base - They keep your shadow in place, can pump the color up and make it more vibrant, and in general just make what you want to do easier. My favorites, depending on what I'm trying to do, are Urban Decay Primer Potion, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. I only use the last one when I have problems with fall out.
  3. Brushes are important! - Think about what you're trying to do and use the right shaped brush accordingly. I like a shader brush like MAC 249 for patting the shadow on my lid. I'll use my MAC 224 for blending in the crease.  And I adore my MAC 219 pencil brush for precise application. My Sephora Angled Eyeliner Brush is the BEST brush for me for lining. Kicks my MAC eye liner brushes collective asses. Get a variety of brushes, play with them, get to know their personalities. You'll be happy later. And, while not technically a "brush", don't forget an eye lash curler.
  4. Pencils are AWESOME - So many companies are making shadow pencils now, plus regular kohl pencils are smudgy enough that if you're in a hurry or your brushes are dirty you can totally just draw your eye on. Go for it! Worse thing - you just remove it and start over.
  5. Blogs and YouTube can help you - If you can think it up, chances are someone has a "How-to" out there somewhere. Just search and get inspired!
And there you have it. Those are what I try to remember when I'm not really sure what I'm doing, as well as what I would tell a "newbie". Of course you want to think about your product, if it's the right one for the job or the best one for you, but the most important thing is to just get started. Don't be afraid because you can always remove what you've done and start over.

Specific products mentioned here can be found at MAC Cosmetics, Sephora, and Fyrinnae.

Quest For My Pretty: Let's tackle the "Buts" so I can get rid of this BUTT!

I stepped on the scale this morning and saw that I had indeed gained weight. This is regardless of having made huge improvements in daily movement over the last week (Monday I clocked in over 18000 steps) and consistently having my BodyBugg register that I've burned 2500+ calories. At least that's on the days when I actually AM working out. The sad realization I had is that I've developed a very bad habit of not working out on the weekend - leaving my workouts for my work days. This coincides with my heaviest calorie days - I just don't do well on the weekend.

So I am gaining weight, and I have bad habits. Let's do the good old excuses list and invalidate them!

My Excuses For Not Doing What I SHOULD be Doing
  • But I want to sleep! - Exercise is known to energize. I've experienced this too. So I need to make a rule: Unless I am truly tired, get at least 20 minutes in! Pull out that 20 minute Turbo Jam or the 15-20 minute HIIT from Turbo Fire. Just do it!
  • But I am waiting to hit it hard core with my challenge group in April.  - While this is true, it's no excuse. I should be living the good habits now so that I can better guide my challenge group in April.
  • But I want that chocolate cake!  -  I need to have BETTER things on hand to grab. We've known this.
  • But I am HUNGRY! - I have been eating more. I need to pace myself. I need to log what I'm eating. It's sort of like how I gained post high school. I rev my metabolism up but fail to keep it there and continue to eat like I have the metabolism of a hard core athlete. I should fuel myself, but only as appropriate.
  • But I want that drink! - I have to choose a limit and stick to it. One drink max  when I'm out at the bars or restaurants, better if I skip it. One night a week I will allow myself 3 drinks max. That may mean putting the stopper in the bottle of wine. The key here is to start cutting it out to a once a week thing. But the weekends are KILLING me with alcohol indulgence lately (warm weather does that).
  • But I'm reaching my calorie limit, step limit, activity limit! - My BodyBugg may be my enemy right now. I see the high numbers and I think I can eat more. Often that snack is chocolaty and laden with carbs. I need to hit the goals, but not use them as an excuse to eat more.
  • But I know what I should eat!  - Clearly I do, but I'm not following it. I have no excuse NOT to log my food. It's on my phone. I need to get back into the habit. Screw the BodyBugg app - just focus on Lose It since I love that interface.
  • But I don't want to do my scheduled workout! - Pick another one. No program is going to suffer because I chose to do something else because I didn't feel like practicing Turbo Kick or lifting weights with PUMP. I should do what I want to do.
  • But I'm frustrated because of my plateau. - It's not a plateau anymore. I'm GAINING. A plateau is better than that. I need to.
  • But I'm better than I used to be. - Not true. I'm falling into old habits. If I look carefully, I'm the same person who has the same temptations.
  • But I want my Shakeology by I already had it for breakfast. - Maybe I need to rethink when I drink my favorite treat. And maybe it's not so bad to have two. It's better than reaching for that chocolate cake!
  • But I'm probably going to try to get pregnant this year. - Yeah I said it. A few years back a doctor told me she wanted me to lose 20 lbs before I started trying. I promptly gained 30. I think I'm running into some of the same issues. Why should I push just to destroy my body? Do I really want to do this? I need to re-evaluate my whole thinking here as it relates to my weight.
Here's what I want to remember.
  • But I want to wear the fun/nice clothing.
  • But I want to be healthy.
  • But I don't want to go to the doctors very often.
  • But I want to kick ass in softball.
  • But I don't want to be limited in any physical capacity!
Yeah... goals!
    Story Time...
I was talking to one of my Turbo Kick class participants (first EVER male student) after class yesterday. He was talking about how he wants to get leaner around his face and some parts of his body. He's using Turbo Kick to do something in addition to his running. I told him that I too have "tummy bulge" so I get it. He said "But you're clearly a very fit individual." My response: "Yeah, I am - but my food is off."  I blurted it out, tired from workout. It was the plain truth. My food IS off. I've identified it. Now I need to tackle it.

    I can do this!

Dayton Fashion Week - 2012: Pre-Launch Soirre Info

Finally at long last I'm getting info on Dayton Fashion Week, proper! So Here I am bringing it to you with you starting with their Pre-Launch Soiree. This Kickoff is sure go be rockin'! Here are the details from Caressa Brown, who is working on organizing Dayton Fashion week.

    Dayton Fashion Week Pre-Launch Soiree
March 31, 2012 at Twin Base Golf Club
    6 pm - 11 pm
Hosted by: Donald Stamper and Maha Kashani of Miss Maha and The City.
    DJ: Adam Spangler
Live Performance: Miss Purity (spoken word artist) and Erin Manderchied (singer)

At the event, the lovely models that Dayton Fashion Week has assembled will be revealed.  Light hors d'oeuvres and door prizes will be given out. In addition there WILL be a prize for "Best Dressed".

No, I have no idea what "best dressed" means in this case so I will leave that for you to decide.

Purchase Your Tickets Online, or at the door of the event.

For those of you keeping track, this is also the same day as the PUSH Prom 'n' Aid. If your interested in supporting PUSH but want to attend this event, I'd still suggest purchasing a PUSH ticket just to support the cause. Or if you can, try to attend both! Both events are definitely long enough to put in an appearance at each.

China Glaze Capitol Colors Collection - Stone Cold

Continuing with my Hunger Games fanaticism, here's China Glaze Stone Cold from the Capitol Colors Collection.

    CHina Glaze - Stone Cold

    CHina Glaze - Stone Cold

And with a top coat, just for fun.

    CHina Glaze - Stone Cold

Inspired by District 2 - the Masonry district, this matte is aptly named. Although I had read earlier reviews that said this was a matte color, I was still surprised when I put it on and REALIZED that it was a matte color (see this is how much I pay attention). My next thought was "darn it! I don't usually have good wear with these!"

Deep dark charcoal matte. It's actually quite beautiful. I don't know if I like it better as a matte or with a regular top coat over it. Shiny it's nice, matte it's nice. But it still feels like something I've seen before (looking at Zoya out of the corner of my eye).

2 coats over Qtica Nail Growth Stimulator , and later topped with Seche Vite. As usual with mattes you have to be careful when applying because they dry fast. Be very careful with that second coat or you will pull the previous layer up with your brush!

I wore this for a day as a matte and had pretty good wear! Usually they start falling off of my tips in large chunks.

    Bottom Line
Not a must have, but something to consider if you like mattes. I probably would not have purchased this had I remembered it was matte.

China Glaze Capitol Colors Collection - Fast Track

I'm SOOOO excited for The Hunger Games coming out this Friday! I already have my tickets, two girlfriends to go see it with, and a husband sad that I'm not taking him along (seriously, it's not like I won't see this twice or more times, so he can just suck it up). But regardless, I'm celebrating with my picks from China Glaze Capitol Colors collection. Here for you today is Fast Track...

    China Glaze - Fast Track

    China Glaze - Fast Track

And just for kicks, here it is under Luxe & Lush...

China Glaze - Luxe & Lush over Fast Track

Fast Track, as I'm sure you've heard already, was inspired by District 6 - The Transportation district. I don't see anything about the color itself that makes me think "Transportation" so as far as I'm concerned, who cares? What matters is that it's an awesome color that will have a star spot in my collection.

Light beige with golden flecks of glitter. It's not sheer AT ALL, which was a huge plus.

The usual: 2 coats over Qtica Nail Growth Stimulator and topped with Seche Vite.No streakiness which was also really great!

I started to have tip wear the next day. Oh well. But that's also my nails. They peel. They chip.

    Bottom Line
I call it a must have, though people with neutral-warm tones in their skin might like it better than ones with cooler tones.

Green B.E.A.N. Delivery - Organic, Sustainable and Local Right To Your Door

    Green B.E.A.N

Words like "locavore", "organic", and "sustainable" have only recently entered my food vocabulary compared to many of you, my readers. I appreciate and applaud my friends who live in areas where they can take advantage of local farmers markets, where the veggies, fruits, and berries are plentiful. But let me tell you - in Springboro, Ohio in the February/March time frame local and/or organic produce becomes extremely scarce. As someone who's trying to eat more cleanly and trying to support more local companies, this can be a problem.  Enter Green B.E.A.N. Delivery.

Just a face of the day... but I used inpsiration from Pinterest!

Last weekend, a friend of mine was discussing gold eye makeup with me. At the same time there was this image on Pinterest going around that had me thinking (find it here on my board). I put the two ideas together and came up with a look for the evening.

Face of the Day - March 10

I haven't put on makeup in so long. I really did have fun with this, even if it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. What I was surprised about is that I went online after the fact and discovered that a large majority of the products I chose to use randomly actually came from the same MAC collection (Moonbathe, 2007). I guess there's a method to their madness.

Face of the Day - March 10
    • Too Faced Shadow Insurance
    • MAC Eye Kohl in Orpheus - I first melted it with a match stick then used a brush to paint the outline of the wing. later on I took the kohl to color in the crease a bit and around the upper and lower lashline.
    • MAC Eye Shadow in Hocus Pocus - Mostly used this to fill in the wing.
    • MAC Eye Shadow in Cosmic - Patted all over the middle of the lid.
    • MAC Eye Shadow in Goldbit - Took this into the inner corner just a tough.
    • MAC Eye Shadow in Clair de Lune - Brow highlight. Wish I had applied it first all over the lid. I would have had better results.
    • Benefit They're Real Mascara
    • Mary Kay Mineralize Foundation in Ivory 6
    • MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in By Candle Light
    • MAC Blush in Afterdusk - best blush EVER!
Face of the Day - March 10
    • MAC Lipstain in Runway Ripened - Mostly on inner corners and almost as a liner.
    • MAC Lipstick in Thrills - over everything.
I did a really sloppy job of foundation this time (shame on me!) but, I do like the combination of colors I put together. Super easy, super fun!

Are you a fan of MAC and strictly use Cruelty Free Products? Check out Phyrra's Blog.

This is an important read for MAC fans who are also using their products because they are Cruelty Free.

Earlier today I saw a post tweeted (and retweeted, and retweeted, and retweeted) that questioned MAC's status as a Cruelty Free company (read said retweeted post). I sincerely hope that many of the conclusions drawn in the aforementioned post are incorrect, but either way I agree that the Cruelty Free stance of MAC is now in question and should be clarified by the company.

I'm personally not great at CF vs non-CF make up purchases. I say "oooh pretty!" and I buy.  But I felt the need to share because I consider this an area where I can improve, should I choose to do so. But I also know that many readers out there ARE Cruelty Free supporters. If I can get this information to even one of you that hasn't heard yet who really wants to hear it and act, then great!

    What Phyrra Did
Phyrra wrote this very well, and gives supporters of the Cruelty Free stance way to make their voices heard. She's so awesome she even provided you with an address and a sample letter.  Check it out. Make your own decisions on whether or not to act.

    Happy Smells? Yes! Happy Smells!

    Sugar Vanilla Bean Candle
You know all about my curiosity around scent and emotion - I've spoken about it every once in a while on this blog. But I read this post this past week on Bella Sugar called "Five Scents Guaranteed To Make You Happy". needless to say it got my attention. I'm not going to reitterate the post here - you're far better checking that out on THEIR site. But, I did ask my favorite Gold Canyon Candle representative Melissa Keenan to check the post out and asked for recommendations to correspond to each scent type. Here are some her recommendations if you want to invoke happiness with home scent:

    Sandalwood Jasmine Candle - $17.98

Yes, that family of scents is probably my favorite... if only because I adore the "Man in a Can" scent. I actually find it inspirational, believe it or not.

I'm normally not much of a "rose" fan. My nose tends to get irritated. But I find that with the right quality of rose scent it can be quite pleasant.

Baby Powder - $17.89 (good cause purchase!)
Jasmine AND Rose - A double threat to the blues!

    Lemon Ice Candle - $17.89
Note: There are many scents that list "Citrus" as a scent note. You may find that some of those have a strong lemon scent, even if it's not directly called out.

Licorice (in the form of Anise)

    Coast Candle - $23.4
I tried to mostly select the ones that Melissa suggested that I could verify on the website based on description. But poke around - you may find some others that peak your curiosity. And definitely look up the scent. While I pointed to the candle in most cases, you can also find theses as home fragrance oils, scent pods, etc.

Go check out the Bella Sugar post, make your mind up about what scents might be best for you. And consider working with my girl Melissa. She can absolutely tell you what is best!

Disclaimer: I am unaffiliated with Gold Canyon Candles. I just happen to really like them and want to support my friend in her business.

Quest For My Pretty: Weekly Weight Loss Report

I feel a little like my weight loss and eating life has been spinning out of control lately. I teach my Turbo Kick class, then I'm totally drained for at least a day, usually longer if it was a great class. In the mean time, my hunger sky rockets. Since my husband hasn't been around (18 hour work days), we haven't been cooking together as much. That means eating out a lot. That means eating more, no matter what I like to think. And I know I haven't been making the best choices.

So this should be no surprise:

Weight: 168.3 (+2.5 lbs since last weigh in).

Push-up Goal: 300/600 - I'm more or less on track I think. I'll need to double up a couple of days but I should still be good. I have 24 more days to finish this out. I can do it.

So... on to the bad stuff.
2.5 is only a couple of pounds but it's still not good. So here's what I do - I evaluate my eating the same way I would for one of my Beachbody customers. And this is what I need to do:
      • Ditch the Alcohol - the occasional indulgence is ok, but I should limit to a 2 glass of wine/drink limit. Not more than once a week.
      • Cookies after lunch? - No more. Replace with fruit.
      • Don't eat the fruit I brought in for after lunch before lunch.
      • Limit fried food.
      • Avoid food after 8 pm, specifically carbohydrates - I tend to want crackers or cookies... worse ice cream.
      • Possibly consider changing  my Shakeology to later in the day.
I know what to do, I just need to do it.  I am recommitting myself post-Vegas trip for Easter. I have a group forming on Facebook. If you're interested, message me and I'll give you more details. It'll be a small focused group. Focused Accountability!!! Even I need it.

Overdue Pictures from my NYC Trip Back in Feburary... Specifically Tiffany & Co.

Specifically, I'm just going to focus on my Tiffany & Co. pictures...

Once when I was in high school my choir went to sing at Carnegie Hall. A group of us decided to go have "breakfast" at Tiffany's (har har). My mother, a chaperone, took us to eat danish outside the store and look in the windows. That was 15 years ago. I had never been inside the actual 5th Avenue Flagship Store...

New York City - February 2012

Sally Hanson Salon Effects Polish Strips in Lust-rous

Seriously, I can't believe how long these lasted on my nails...

Sally Hanson Salon Effects Nail Strips in -  Lust-rous

Really... want to take a guess? They say up to 10 days but you know how things last on me. I barely make it past 3 days with any polish.

8 Days!!! 8 Frakking days!!! Yes I had tip wear, but the strips stuck!

Black with different size and shape gold and silver glitter. I've been told it reminded someone of one of the polishes in the Nicki Minaj collection but I really haven't been paying attention to that.

Prep the nail, peel the strip, place the strip, file down. Easy.

      8 FRAKKING DAYS!!!

      Bottom Line
For one polish the price is pretty high and I do feel like these waist a lot of product. But seriously, 8 DAYS!!! Much better than the wear I got my first time around with that blue glittery one.

Go Check Out Fug Madness on Go Fug Yourself!

The Brackets are up!!! Seriously, ever since my friend Tara introduced me to a few years ago I have been chomping at the bit to see what happens every year come March. I don't care about basketball, but I do LOVE a good fashion smack-down!

Anyway, for those of you who are going to play along with me, here's the Bracket Post on the Fug Girls site if you want to fill yours out.

Getting Shot by Kidtee Hello, Melissa McManus and Josh Lucas - I don't know what we did but it was fun!

      March 4th photo shoot

Last week I finally had my Beauty and the Beast photo shoot with Kidtee Hello (facebook, website). To tell you the truth I had been freaking out about it because I had no idea what I wanted to do for the shoot, just that I wanted to do SOMETHING. Fortunately, the photographer, hairstylist Melissa McManus, and Makeup Artist Josh Lucas were all very understanding and fun.

Rock YOUR Red Pumps tomorrow! - National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

March 10th is National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Like last year, this year I am supporting the Red Pumps Project and I will be rocking my Red Pumps when I leave the comfort of my home (and maybe a little around the house just for fun).  The Red Pumps Project seeks to build awareness about HIV/AIDS. If you want to read specifics about the cause, please read About The Red Pumps Proejct.

But let me take a step back and talk about why this is important...

Just some quick HIV and AIDS related facts
Most of the information I'm listing here is actually available on The Red Pumps Project website. But in case you don't go there, here are the points that I think are the mot compelling:
      • A new person is infected with HIV in the United States every 9.5 minutes, with over 1 million adults living with HIV.
      • Of that 1 million, 21% of people in the US living with HIV/AIDS do not know they have been infected.
      • High-risk heterosexual contact is the source of 80% of newly diagnosed infections in women in the US.
      • The largest number of HIV/AIDS diagnoses recently is in women age 15-39.
      • HIV is the leading cause of death for Black women aged 25-34 years of age (more than cancer and heart disease).

      Total Addiction - Pinterest

I probably don't need to say much about this, but I'm absolutely in love with Pinterest. I've been using it as a way of organizing, a source of inspiration, planning... highly useful, effective and just plain awesome. I know it sort of gray-area skirts a lot of copyright and sharing laws, but this is such a cool way to share your web browsing experience and actually can increase your productivity, not to mention ability to remember things. Anyway, check it out.

Of my boards, my favorites are:
I'd also like to give a special Pinterest Shoutout to my favorite person to follow: Amanda Rae. She's a local Dayton model, super gorgeous, and pins the most interesting stuff! Some of it is quit disturbing - and I like that. I don't know that I want to know where she comes up with half the stuff she pins, but hey... I sure do enjoy seeing them! Who needs a Pinteret full of dull images anyway!

Are you on Pinterest? What do you use it for? Who are your favorite people to follow?

PUSH Dayton - Prom 'n' Aid Saturday March 31

I hope that PUSH (Professionals United For Sexual Health) doesn't mind me stealing their image here, but Aja just looked so cute strutting her stuff I had to post it!

You may remember previous blog posts of mine supporting PUSH. The group raises money for free condom program and education for the local chapter of Planned Parenthood. Their events are always fun, and you do get to meet a lot of great people. Much of what I've seen was geared toward single people and/or women but FINALLY, here's something that is truly couples oriented!!!

It would be super fun to dress as Lorraine for this event...

Quest For My Pretty: Delay on Report for this week

I haven't been the best person for working out and eating this last week, though I did KILL IT in Turbo Kick last night. Mostly this was due to a lot of craziness. As you may know, the candidate I was backing for congress did not win last night. On top of that, at the bar where we were awaiting results, some man keeled over  and hit his head right on my chair! I freaked, but managed to call 911. I'm pretty sure that man is feeling pretty awful today, but I hope he's ok.

In other words, drama has been following me. I forgot to weigh in today. But I'm not going to worry too much about missing this week's weigh in.

      Push-ups on the other hand...

      Push-up Count: 195/600

I keep forgetting to do these, and some days I double up. I need to get back in the habit. That's what this is about! On the other hand, they are getting easier.

      How was your week?

Playing with China Glaze Electro Pop Brights Collection

      China Glaze Electro POP
Sometimes, you receive a rainbow in the mail and you just have to go with it...

      China Glaze Electro POP
      Techno in the bottle.
      • Thumb - Aquadellic
      • Index - Gaga for Green
      • Middle - Sunshine Pop
      • Ring - Make Some Noise
      • Pinky - Wicked Style
      • Top Coat - Techno
      China Glaze Electro POP
Gaga For Green bottle, my favorite.

A couple of weeks ago I was just having a terrible feeling period. I was depressed. It was early-mid February. The winter blues, as it were (without the snow). These polishes had been sitting out on my counter with the intent to review for a long time. Well, this isn't a review... I'm just playing. But I'll tell you what my favorites are for sure.

      China Glaze Electro POP
Close up of Gaga for Green - so vibrant!
My favorites, personally, were Gaga For Green, Wicked Style, and Make Some Noise. The other three really didn't matter to me at all. They weren't bad, but they just didn't speak to me.

With a layer of Qtica Nail Growth Stimulator, two coats of color, Techno top coat, then Seche Vite... there were bound to be issues. I'm not magician and I have zero patience. Therefore none of these nails were perfect.

        Bottom (Hazy) Line:
Yes, these polishes lifted my mood. I would suggest picking up the ones that draw your eye.

These polishes were furnished  by PR for review purposes.  I do  not sell China Glaze products nor are they affiliated with China Glaze in any way.

Off-topic: Yes Non-Republicans! There is something to vote on Tuesday!

It's amazing how many people out there think that there's nothing to vote on tomorrow simply because the Democrats don't have a presidential primary. But there really is so much more to vote on! Like Congress! You know, that third branch that everyone yells about when they aren't yelling about who's the president.

Ok, so I don't like to get political on my blog. I really don't. But I have a friend who is running for Congress in the tenth district of Ohio. Yes, that's Dayton... and sadly NOT my district (just barely, by about half a mile). But I love what my friend David Esrati is doing and I wish I could vote for him. One of the reasons you haven't seen too many blog posts lately is because I've been busy making phone calls for his campaign. He doesn't like to do robocalls - they cost too much money. He doesn't accept money from PACS, special interest groups or corporations. He's really trying to take the money out of politics, and subsequently allow congress to start voting for the PEOPLE rather than owing someone who donated to their campaign.

I don't want to tell you who to vote for. I can't even vote for who I'd like to vote for because he's not in my district. And sadly, my district has crappy coverage so I don't even know anything about who's running that I can vote for. But if David Esrati is in YOUR district, you might want to take a look at his campaign material at Elect Esrati. You may also like to check out his blog for information on ALL the candidates running for congress tomorrow.

Regardless, check out some of David's videos. This is my favorite. :)

Check out more on the Elect Esrati channel on YouTube. And please forgive this political interruption on a fashion, beauty and health blog.

Zoya Skylar and Bevin - Sometimes two colors just belong together...

Seriously, I couldn't make myself put these on separately. Not on even separate hands.
        Zoya Skylar
        Skylar in Bottle

        Zoya Bevin
        Bevin in Bottle

        Zoya Bevin and Skylar

        Plus I was having fun.

If and when I choose to wear these polishes by themselves I'll do a formal review, but for now just settle for haphazardly placed Skyler on Bevin. If I could have done something to Ombre them into one another I would have tried. They just looked so gorgeous side by side I couldn't choose one over another.

Bevin is a sea-green cream. Skylar is a light blue with shimmer, almost a "stone" finish. Both are refreshing and beautiful, in my opinion, though perhaps the way I chose to wear them was just strange.

        Full Disclosure
These polishes were furnished to me by Zoya for the purpose of use and review. I was not paid to provide this review, and have provided my honest opinion of the product. I am unaffiliated with Zoya, Qtica and the Art of Beauty.
