Sad Day - Betsey Johnson Going Out Of Business Sale Begins

Not long ago I read this article on the Huffington Post about Betsey Johnson filing for bankruptcy. To say I was crushed is an understatement. You see, my adventures with this brand began back when I was getting married. I was looking for a dress for my rehearsal dinner and happened upon a cute off-white linen dress with flowers embroidered all over it (very girly) by Betsey Johnson. I can't fit into it anymore (it was a very small size 10), but it still hangs in my closet. I don't think I will EVER get rid of it because it is that special to me.

Consequently, when I go to Vegas I have been visiting Store #37. This last visit was exceptional. The store manager, Jenn, took a piece my husband liked (skirt with skulls on it, reversible) and styled it up for me. The skirt walked home with me, while the top did not (though I did think it was fun), and I've worn it several times since.

However, having fun with her customer, Jenn's GREATNESS didn't stop there. A week later I saw that the skirt I had ordered had gone on sale. I called the store. Jenn explained that the normal practice is to return the item to a Betsey Johnson store to obtain a refund. Well, being in Ohio in the middle of no where, how the heck was I supposed to do that? She arranged for me to get the difference in price off my skirt back in store credit (around $30).

Taking advantage of the sale, I selected some options. Jenn, who did remember me from my trip to the store, provided me with her opinion of the items I selected, their fit, and what she thought about their versatility. In the end I took full advantage of purchasing a dress that was already on sale that the new sale applied to, and added my new store credit. The end result was a purchase of about $50. I ended up with the following:

Good choice! I can dress this up or down as I like, easy peasy. Plus it's SUPER comfortable! I don't think I could have done a better job. Further, I would not have made a good choice without Jenn's assistance.

Whether or not Betsey Johnson is "your style" I believe in the brands commitment to fun clothing. I don't think it needs to be restricted to youth, but can be a quirky fun update for those of us older than 22. I'm really sad to see this happening. I hope Betsey rises from the ashes to cartwheel her way down the runway again in our future.

In the mean time, I encourage you to have a peek at the Betsey Johnson Going out of Business sale. Pick something up in case this is the last chance you get to have something of this iconic brand. And, if you are so inclined call my friends at the Las Vegas store #37 and order direct from there (702-731-0286). I don't know if they are still answering phones, but I did write Jenn a quick note thanking her and wishing her the best. I do believe discounts only apply through the store so best to or from a store (Store locator).

Betsey Johnson and Store #37, you will always be in my heart!
XOX right back at ya!
